Social Media Optimization: Tweetdeck and Bit.ly

Optimized tweeting brings the followers to you

Optimized tweeting brings the followers to you

If you are a Twitter advocate and have a robust following, you probably have a hard time keeping track of it all. Two tools I use on a daily basis to make my tweeting experience more enjoyable and productive are Tweetdeck and Bit.ly. Both are readily available, free to use and highly recommended when trying to optimize your Twitter experience for marketing.

Tweetdeck – This is my favorite application for optimizing social media, most importantly, Twitter. It separates your tweets into columns of regular tweets and mentions, which makes it easier to track retweets. On top of that it will give you a twit scoop column of trending topics and a recommended column that highlights other Twitter accounts you may want to follow. Tweetdeck also integrates with Bit.Ly to make your long links into short links instantly. Additionally it will track your Facebook and MySpace accounts.

Bit.ly – When posting links on Twitter you should be using a link shortening tool. After all, you only get 140 characters to accomplish your goal. Bit.ly will actually shorten and track your links for you. The information it gathers about clicks and sharing of your links is invaluable. With the integration of Tweetdeck, posting short links on Twitter is seamless.

These two Twitter Optimization tools work together hand in hand to provide you with a better tweeting experience that is easy to track and maintain. Marketers are usually connected to large masses of followers and tweet a lot of information. Your number one priority is to track the effectiveness of your tweeting as well as all the incoming and outgoing tweets, so optimize that task by using the right tools.

Twitter: How-to use Microblogging for Marketing

Twitter Optimization turns your tweets into traffic

Twitter Optimization turns your tweets into traffic

Amongst all the social network hype how do you know which ones to use and which ones to avoid? You are probably asking yourself, “how can Twitter be used as a marketing tool?” “Is Twitter effective for marketing?” Using social media optimization you can turn it into one. I will explain how to build a Twitter following while optimizing your Tweets to drive traffic to your sites.

The first part of optimizing your Twitter account starts with followers. If you have no one following you how will they read the content and spread interesting posts for you? Avoid following people that spam content you do not want and follow people of interest to you personally and professionally, not only will this spread your reach on the network but it will also give you a more personal appearance. Once you are following a good amount of people and have followers of your own you should retweet information that you feel is important to you, either professionally or personally. This will promote retweets of your content while showing your interest in the community.

Optimizing your tweets is a very important step in using Twitter as a marketing tool. Your tweets should be short enough to be “retweeted” by your followers, leaving room for “RT @yourname”. Also, create tweets that are intriguing, they will yield more response. If you are talking about a new product do not tweet “new product available: product name,” you should make it more interesting like “Watch Out (Competitor), Here Comes the Future.” Another tip is to capitalize your tweets as if they were titles, this creates demand and begs for attention. Links, links, links… after all a tweet is only so long, use sites like Bit.Ly to create short links to your blog posts and web pages allowing your followers who want more to get the info they desire.

Tweet Optimizations

  • Shorten tweets for retweeting
  • Create intriguing tweet titles
  • Capitalize your tweets like titles
  • Links, links, links

The ultimate goal of microblogging is to drive traffic to your website or blog. This is where people will find more useful and informative content, using Twitter only as a catalog for quick indexing. By growing your community and optimizing your tweets you will see more traffic flowing to your web pages from Twitter. What you do with the traffic is up to you but I would suggest providing content that shows authority in your industry and ultimately sells your products or services.

Graphic Design Gets The Message Across Part 2 of 2

Graphic Design5 Graphic Design Gets The Message Across Part 2 of 2

Use graphic design that stands out

Graphic Design Gets the Message Across Part 1 of 2 explained what graphic design is and showed an example of how it can be used for branding your company. Now I want to talk about graphic design a little more in detail.

Graphic design is a great way to get your message across to consumers and to persuade them into seeing how your company can help them.  Everywhere that you look you will see some type of graphic design whether it’s the shirt you’re wearing, the label on your gum wrapper to big things like the billboard that caught your eye on the way to work or the logo on the blimp you saw in the sky.

The graphic designer works with their client in a way that will purvey their client’s message in an appealing and unforgettable way.  Consumers can read a lot of information on a specific company and get an idea of what they do but in order to get someone to read that information a company needs to first look appealing and that is where an attractive logo, a nicely formatted brochure or business cards comes in to play.  It’s all about a first impression that catches the eye and the consumer’s attention, and the most effective way to achieve that is by applying graphic design to your companies advertising strategy.

Graphic design takes skill and not all designs create appeal. When choosing your graphic designer it is a good idea to see previous work they have done and make sure they are trained with experience in the field.  Once the graphic designer is chosen you will be on your way to revealing your company in an alluring way to your consumers to get your company message across in one that is visually pleasing.

Graphic Design Gets The Message Across Part 1 of 2

Eye catching graphic design helps companies stand out

Eye catching graphic design helps companies stand out

Most people are persuaded by the first impression of the way something appears to the eye.  We live in a visual world where the more appealing something looks the more someone is going to want that something.  When a company is trying to advertise and put themselves on the market one of the number one ways to get someone’s attention quickly would be to use graphic design.  Whether it’s a business logo, a magazine ad, a letter, a mailer, a web banner, or a website it is all made by using graphic design.

One of the most successful companies out there would be Apple and when you think of Apple the first thing that comes to mind is the apple symbol.  That simple apple symbol was made using a technique or tool called graphic design and is now one of the most popular logos around.  Incorporating such a benefiting technology as graphic design into your advertising is a must and a great way to visually display your company in an appealing way.

So that is the basics of graphic design along with an example of branding through imagery explained in this article Graphic Design Gets the Message Across Part 1 of 2. Read the next part of this article, Graphic Design Get the Message Across Part 2 of 2, where I talk about more advanced details of graphic design and choosing a designer.

Branding, “Google It” and become the Googled

search engine optimzation1 Branding, “Google It” and become the Googled

How optimized is your web presence

Who remembers anything anymore? Just “Google it”, Google has become a virtual search index for our brains. So when someone wants to buy a product or service what do they do? Well if they Google it, and most people do, how do they know which result to choose? Usually people just choose the top listing of the search engine results page (SERP), right?  Not true, internet shoppers are becoming savvier when it comes to scouring the web, not to mention that there are Pay-Per-Click ads above the results. So how do you market your business on Google?

There are a few ways you can be seen on the SERPs

  • Organically Ranked Webpage – Optimize your web presence to achieve a high search ranking.
  • Paid Ads Based on Keywords – Bid on Pay-Per-Click ads at the top of the search.
  • Organically Ranked Media – Optimize your pictures and video to be seen amongst top searches.

Being at the top of the SERPs is not the only important part of marketing yourself with Google. You definitely want to be on the first page at least but what you also need is branding. Once you have a brand you begin to build trust. Consumers trust images and names that ring a bell. Big brands are everywhere offline, Coca Cola, Pizza Hut, etc. but online you have a chance to actually become one for yourself.

Ways to brand your company

  • Creating imagery that is personal to your company
  • Playing sounds which can be related to you
  • Web design and social media that is unique

Once you have been branded consumers will be able to find you easier on the web. They may even choose your company over the one ranked number one by Google. It all comes down to trust and familiarity. So shine some light on your business and help it grow. Start optimizing your web presence and become branded. The Googler is now the Googled.
